Bone Health & Testing

How Healthy Are Your Bones?

Bone health is an important part of a woman's overall health. We realize the loss of bone equates to increased risk of fracture, loss of mobility and loss of independence. DEXA bone densitometry is a simple, quick and noninvasive procedure that provides the most accurate method available for the diagnosis of osteoporosis. It's also considered an accurate estimator of fracture risk and is effective in tracking the effects of treatment for osteoporosis and other conditions that cause bone loss.

We are an ISCD certified site with a state of the art GE Bone Densitometer. Dr. Robert Wool and Densitometry Specialist, Lori Stoudenmire, take your bone health seriously. Working together with you, we will develop a plan to help keep your bones strong through, nutrition, exercise, and if needed, the appropriate medication.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends bone density testing if you are a woman:
  • age 65 or older
  • under age 65 who is menopausal and not on hormone replacement therapy
  • over age 50 who has had a fracture
  • over age 50 who has a family history of osteoporosis
  • over age 50 who has a family history of hip fracture
